So here is something shocking that most of you don't know, I am makeup obsessed.... Well, maybe most of you do know that, but this has been more of a recent addiction, maybe a year or two in the making. Since starting my journey I have noticed that I pay way more attention to my skin then I did before.  Let's flashback to high school when I used to wear super cute (thick) black bottom eye liner everyday; I would come home from school with racoon eyes!!! I barely moisturized and I am paying for it now. Since then I have grown a lot, and with trial & error ended up in a place that I am finally content with my skincare process.  So I want to share with you some amazing tips and tricks to getting your skin where it needs to be!

Tips & Tricks

  1.  Moisturizer is key!! I have really dry skin and I have noticed that I am starting to get some fine lines! I moisturize once at night before bed and once in the morning before I put my makeup on! This will keep your foundation nice & smooth and help avoid cracking

DAYTIME:

Light Makeup day: Clinique Custom Repair Moisturizer with SPF

The reason I wear this on light makeup days is that the SPF makes my skin super shiny and I prefer a matte look on my full glam days! This is a bit more dense so I usually don't wear foundation on top! I use the Clinique CC Cream with this and I love it!!

If you are in Jacksonville, NC visit Abby at the Clinique Counter @ Belk! She will get you what you need.

FULL GLAM

Mary Kay Age Fighting Timewise Moisturizer

This is such a great product! It isn't too thick which I love because I am going to be putting primer over it! This also has SPF in it but doesn't create as much of a shine as Clinique's product.

NIGHTIME:

I adore Burt's Bees Intense Hydration Night Cream with Clary Sage!! I prefer a thicker more dense moisturizer at night as I have dry skin (and I like my showers SUPER HOT) I use this every night & I swear it has changed my skin!!

2.  YOU NEED NATURAL OILS to have gorgeous skin! Drugstore soap is not your friend.

I tend to lean more towards natural products. I have a somewhat irrational fear of those little beads they put in so many skin cleansers... I feel like they are going to clog up all of my pores. I need my skin to breathe!  I have started using AlyWillow Products and I am in love. I do not use anything else. Her Lemon Laughs soap has cleared my skin up, not to mention all her products are made out of ONLY plants!

You can shop for her products at:

Her soaps have changed my life & I HIGHLY recommend!

3.  Drugstore Makeup Remover Wipes are ruining your skin!

I am guilty, because I travel so much, of using my makeup remover wipes way too much! Have you read the ingredients in those? It's scary. Not to mention the rubbing of product continuously into your skin, I feel like it never really removes. Like I mentioned before, I am an advocate for more natural products. It is so important to take your makeup off every night, however life is busy and sometimes I sleep in a full face; my white pillows really love it when I do that. However, 98% of the time I take my makeup off using these two products

Cucumber & Sage Facial Cleansing Towelettes

Clinique

Take the day off

This has a coconut oil like consistency. It is solid in the jar then when you put it on your skin it melts! It takes EVERYTHING off as well as moisturizes!

4. Last but not least... MY FACIAL SPRAY!

I love love love my Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater. I carry this around in my purse at all times. It is a quick burst of happiness for your skin. I love that it soothes your skin while setting your makeup. It gives you just enough moisture throughout the day. I would say I spray my face with this 3-5 times a day! You will not catch me without this. I haven't tried the rest of his skin care line but I would be lying if I said I wasn't enticed.
